Suck It Up

Did I ever mention that I have a very keen sense of smell? It can be both a blessing and a curse at times. It often drives my impulsive addiction to buy things.

I bought a new vacuum today. It's nothing special really in comparison to the fancy-schmancy Dyson vacuums (which I still covet - the pink one in particular) but it's new, it works, and I think it's swell.

I don't know who used my old one last or what they did with it but when I turned it on, it smelled like rotten milk and dirty bum. Seriously! Do I want to know what my children were doing with my vacuum? Probably not. I rescued the Canadian Tire flyer from the recycle bin, fumbled through until I found this little gem on sale, and then put the old one in the garage. Mr. B can use it to suck up saw dust and spiders or whatever it is he does out there. He'll like it. He can't smell anything anyway.

I came back from my mission with little canister vac and coffee in hand and set off to work. The house is now clean - Bree Van de Damp clean in fact. Well, almost. The kids need to clean their rooms and I have a bit of filing to do but other than that, it sparkles and I don't feel the need to check the status of my latest tetanus shot prior to using any of the toilets. How is it boys have the ability to point but still cannot aim? Anyhoo, the house looks lovely and smells like Hawaii. I think I can get my jammies on, make some popcorn and watch a movie now. I've earned it.

My new vacuum smells like plastic. For once, I sort of like the smell of plastic.
